Pearl Harbor is something “SERIOUSLY fucking changing” and the rest of your response is just a bunch of what-ifs. Also I think the American people are so sick of war there’s no way we would fight China, there would be full blown riots, not protests.
Yes. They are what-ifs. That’s called speculation. Pointing out that I’m speculating when I am openly presenting my speculation as speculation is in no way a refutation. I’m not even trying to say, “THIS WILL HAPPEN.” I’m saying “THIS COULD HAPPEN.” And it’s just one scenario. There are others. And not just with China. With all sorts of nations.
You’re probably right about there being protests. There were for Vietnam. Yet, the war continued. 58,000 Americans died. No one knows how many Vietnamese died, but it’s in the millions. The protests were ineffectual. The power structure didn’t care that it was being petitioned with a redress of grievances. Hell, most PEOPLE didn’t care. Nixon won re-election amid protests.
Bottom line: you seriously overestimate both the rationality of human beings and the compassion of our leadership.
