Someone needs to break this to Adam: the imperfection of federal authority is no basis for believing in the perfection of corporate authority. It's akin to defending abusive parents by pointing out examples of abusive orphanages. There's no reason to believe that unchecked, money-based authority is somehow less corruptible than poorly checked, voter-based authority. This type of naivete is more romantic and idealistic, sure, but that doesn't make it realistic.
